Keeping Deaf Children Safe From Sexual Abuse

VIDEO [CC] - NSPCC: This is a version of our Underwear Rule guide to help protect Deaf children from abuse.

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) have launched a new video version of its successful Underwear Rule guidance today to help keep Deaf children safe from sexual abuse.

The film is in British Sign Language and includes subtitles. It aims to teach Deaf children about the Underwear Rule and encourages them to share secrets that upset them with a trusted adult.

The successful campaign is designed to allow parents to start easy conversations with their children without having to mention scary words like sex or abuse. It teaches them that their privates are private and that their body belongs to them. See BSL video: https://youtu.be/lvD74L86Mr8

Deaf and Hearing News - Deaf Family

VIDEO [ASL/CC] - Short film: How does Deaf and Hearing Network impact a Deaf family? #NewsForEveryone.

DHN is a place where everyone can get the news in the language that suits them best, whether they are Deaf or Hearing. This is the first of five installments to show you that DHN is the #NewsForEveryone. How does DHN benefit you? Tell us in the comments below or on social media.

DHN is a news agency out of Phoenix, Arizona. We incorporate American Sign Language, spoken English and captions into each broadcast. There are 48 million Deaf or Hard of Hearing people in America and the majority of them are born into hearing families. Very few of those families will learn sign language - American Sign Language, ASL. This gives the entire family access to news.

Videographer: David Banen

Editor: Peyton Gallovich

Music: Jeff Southwick - http://www.singlemanstudios.com/

Actors: Abrams-Gay Family

This is the first news show to involve all three forms of communication and give information relevant to everyone whether they are involved in the Deaf community or not. What most people fail to realize is that English and ASL are two completely different languages with their own grammatical structures. Plus, English is a second language for most deaf people and the lag and inaccuracy in live captioning can make daily news a daunting task.

DHN hopes to grow into a national, daily broadcast with news segments and other network programs. We currently air on local channels and online.

Ted Evans - In Search Of The DEAF WORLD

VIDEO [CC] - Deaf World Promo - "In Search of the Deaf World" by Ted Evans.

Deaf filmmaking, Ted Evans - a british freelance director, editor and general all round filmmaker based in London, U.K.

Ted Evans having recently visited Malaysia where he met numerous Deaf people from all kinds of backgrounds; He have since fantasied about travelling all over the world, meeting a wide range of unique Deaf people who have a story to tell. During this search the process would also reveal the sub-story of the filmmaker's' journey, as they search for the Deaf people and where they live.

Deaf people are not recorded and they are hidden from view. Deaf History was recorded by a very limited few yet there are so many fascinating stories and characters to unearth.

Having such films would both educate mainstream society on several authentic aspects of Deaf Culture and at the same time serve to inspire Deaf people who do not know how other Deaf people like them, live in countries across the world.

Using the footage his shot in Malaysia, He have put together a promo teaser to give the viewer a sense of style and the type of visuals they'd be keen to incorporate into the films. This is not a real programme or docmentary series.

Filmed by Ted Evans (5DMK2 footage shot mainly by Becky Bailey and a few shots here and there from Brian Duffy)

Ted Evans' statement on the website - "This is simply something we could do if we had the funding and networks set up. I hope people see this and want to see more because it proves that there would be an audience for such films.

I don't know when I can finish this pilot. Firstly I have no budget, secondly there will be some major translation challenges to overcome and this takes time and money something I am very short on. If you wish to help you can donate some money via the Tip-Jar below this film.

A big thanks must go out to my friends at silentSHOUT who helped set up a lot of what you see in this clip. They pretty much produced this episode and I appreciate all the time and work they put into our visit.

I didn't want the footage to sit on a shelf somewhere so I quickly cut this. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could travel to countries all over the world, finding unique deaf people in all kinds of environments. We already know that some stories would be incredibly sad and difficult, but there will also be inspiring ones and stories that will fascinate everyone. Until then just imagine what we could do!" - Ted Evans

This video was re-created to spread awareness to the American Society of Deaf Children within my community. There are moments in life when we feel a connection so deep words can hardly describe it. But how do we know that it's real?

This is the story of a boy who meets a girl and falls in love.

(Please do not continue reading until after you watch the video!)

The Jubilee Project makes films for good causes. This film was produced to raise awareness and support for the American Society for Deaf Children. There are two ways that you can support this cause. This video was created for a School Public Service Announcement for the school. Originally made by The Jubilee Project, all credit goes to them for the story content within this film.

I would also like to take the time to forward you to their website where you can buy the song used "Peaches" by: New Heights for $1.00 and your dollar will go straight to the donation of the American Society of Deaf Children.
